Local spring flowers from Amsterdam

Exploring new skills within local surroundings

One of the most inspiring and wonderful things about spring is all the flowers! A colourful explosion of flora sprouting up almost everywhere you look.

One such a place where there is an abundance of grown cut flowers for anyone to enjoy and use is at  ZomerBloemen Pluktuin Amsterdam

Located a lovely bike ride away from my home studio this idilic place is right along side the Amstel river. And biking past it a month or so ago I couldn’t resist quickly stopping by. After strolling around the beautiful gardens I decided to gather and cut a soft spring bouquet in gentle purples and lightly tones florals.

After viewing a truly inspiring and stunning video on Instagram of how to create a fairy meadow I couldn’t stop myself for wanting to make something even closely resembling such magic.

Anne van Midden  a genuinely talented local dutch florist absolutely made me feel like anyone could create something as charming as she did. All you truly need are flowers! And they do the hardest part already, being beautiful.  So rummaging around in my house for the perfect vase I set to work on creating a little enchanted bouquet of myself. After about an hour of cutting and placing and looking and finding more grasses in our garden I was finally happy with what I saw before me.

Nothing brings me more joy than grasses, flowers and the abundance of nature!

Dried, fresh cut or just growing wild in nature flowers can transform any day into a beautiful day. So try it out for yourself! Go explore your local surrounding and take a look at all the beauty that surrounds you.

Thanks Anneke for the nice description of our flower garden. Welcome any time; for freshly picked flowers, a drink in our beautiful garden, for a workshop or kids party, or just for a walk…
